Mason Cable Network has opportunities for everyone to be involved. No experience needed, but preferred! Whether you’re interested in production, pre- or post production, video editing, on-camera experience, or public relations, we have it.

Available Positions as Paid Interns  

 

Production Manager 

  • Work closely with General Manager to implement his/her vision 
  • Recruiting volunteers by responding to interested students who apply through Student Media’s application system or MCN’s email account 
  • Work with all show producers to create new shows and improve existing ones 
  • Enforce the production schedule 
  • Solve production issues 
  • Manage all social media accounts 
  • Update the website 
  • Regularly hold and lead production meetings with producers and volunteers

Senior Video Editor 

  • Work closely with General Manager and Production Manager 
  • Oversee all video editors for MCN 
  • Determine assignments for volunteer editors 
  • Ensure every editor meets deadline
  • Train all volunteer editors 
  • Upload videos to YouTube 
  • Cut program/sports highlights as needed 
  • Conduct meetings with editors when necessary 

Deputy Video Editor

  •  An editor in-house and hired by the General Manager 
  • Editor is responsible for the completion for video for airing and uploading on the network and various online video sharing websites
  • Videos to be edited will be dictated by the General Manager and/or Production Manager 
  • Editor is responsible for the logging and capturing of video clips if necessary, as well as upkeep and backup of files 
  • All edits will be finished within a deadline of receiving the necessary media to edit together final video 
  • Videos that are time sensitive will have a quick deadline. If video isn’t completed by that time, said video could be scrapped or continued at the General Manager’s discretion 
  • Uploads video to YouTube, and then makes them public after approval from the show producer or General Manager

News Director

  • Serve as editorial lead, making sure all content is accurate, properly attributed, journalistically objective and responsive to the needs of the Mason community 
  • Make sure all live newscasts and daily updates are of high production quality 
  • Hold and lead weekly news meeting
  • Approve the script for each newscast 
  • Train script writers, anchors, reporters and commentators 
  • Act as broadcast director for the live weekly show 
  • Coordinate with Assistant Production Manager and Senior Video Editor
